Hero Squared


Together, Daniel and Jonathan have produced or co-produced over 15 features/series over the past five years, including –

Academy Award Nominated UK-HU co-production MRS HARRIS GOES TO PARIS (global sales by eOne, worldwide distribution by Focus Features) starring Lesley Manville and Isabelle Huppert, supported by the National Film Institute of Hungary.

Canada-Hungary-Croatia co-production INFINITY POOL (domestic distribution by Neon, Int’l by Focus Features International) by Brandon Cronenberg, starring Alexander Skarsgard and Mia Goth, and supported by Eurimages and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

Other clients/distributors include Universal Studios, Amazon, Netflix, Apple, and Sony.

Hero Squared offers producing for hire, int’l co-production, and production service solutions across Hungary, Croatia, and the entire CEE region.

Daniel


After graduating with a B.S. from Rutgers – School of Business in the U.S., Daniel moved back to the country his parents left in the last century. He been working in the film industry since 2002, and been witness to Budapest’s film industry explosion since the Film Law was passed in 2004.

Daniel began his international filmmaking career at Korda Studios in 2006, where over a decade he became Head of Production, launching a successful production service division for the company from scratch.

Combining 20+ years of physical production, financial structuring, and development expertise, he has produced, exec produced, line produced, or directed over 20 films/series across 5 countries.

When not on set, on late-night zoom calls, or behind the desk budgeting, Daniel enjoys drinking wines, reading real books (printed on paper), listening to his vinyl collection, and occasionally DJ-ing Hero Squared crew parties.

Jonathan


Jonathan Halperyn began his career in 2002 in the mailroom of both Miramax and Fox Searchlight, and in 2003 joined Focus Features the same weekend Lost in Translation released in theatres.

As an executive at both Focus Features International (New York City and Los Angeles) and Korda Studios (Budapest), his 20+ years in media and entertainment have focused on finance, financial planning, individual film modeling, P&L’s, international sales and distribution, and physical production.

In 2018 he founded Hero Squared in Budapest, and was quickly joined by co-founder Daniel Kresmery to build the fastest growing production house in town.

Jonathan holds an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business and is a member of the European Film Academy and Producer’s Guild of America. He is an avid comic book and sci fi fan, and a devoted collector of original comic art.

Viktoria


Viktoria Vay, a Budapest native, began her artistic journey as a child actor, performing in renowned productions at the Hungarian National Theatre and gaining fame in a daily soap opera. She furthered her creative pursuits by studying creative writing at Goldsmiths, University of London.


As a junior producer at Hero Squared, she passionately contributes to all aspects of production, development, and coordination.


In April 2023, she debuted her young adult novel, “Francba – Francia!”, while her dramedy series, “Budapest – Berlin,” is finding it’s place at German production companies.


Viktoria enjoys going to a cinema and order big popcorn with coke, singing while driving, torture friends with her experimental cooking.

Sally Ghaly

Sally Ghaly is an Egyptian-American filmmaker from New Jersey with over 10 years of experience. After graduating from NYU, she began her career with Paramount’s Nickelodeon International Content Strategy & Acquisitions teams in New York. 
 
In 2021, she relocated to Budapest, first joining Hero Squared as a Production Executive, where she’s contributed to projects in-office and on-set from financing and budgeting thru to production. She now heads Hero Squared’s original content development out of London as a producer and screenwriter. 
 
Sally holds both an MBA from HEC Paris and an MA in Screenwriting from London Film School. She enjoys a wide range of formats and genres, and is particularly interested in Arab and Middle Eastern stories. 
 
When she’s not catching up on the latest series and films, Sally is often playing guitar, practicing aerial silks, attending comedy shows, and hoping she’ll miraculously become a polyglot one day.
